Cyprus in Autumn
Autumn is a strong season for Cyprus: Visit Cyprus says September and October still suit swimming, sunbathing and watersports, with warm days and cool October evenings, and that November has pleasantly warm days with cool evenings. It suits travellers who want sea and sightseeing without the summer peak.
- Best for
- Travellers who want warm swimming and sightseeing without peak-summer heat, and anyone planning a late-season trip.
- How much time
- A week lets you combine a beach base with the sites and a night in the hills.

Cyprus has short autumn and spring seasons between its long summers and mild winters, which makes autumn feel like an extension of summer that gradually softens. This guide follows the official Visit Cyprus climate and holiday pages, and shows how the season changes from September to November. It sits between summer and winter.
How the autumn months differ
| Month | What Visit Cyprus says |
|---|---|
| September to October | Warm days and cool October evenings. Swimming, sunbathing and watersports are still at their best, and medium-weight clothes are suggested for October evenings. |
| November | Pleasantly warm days and cool evenings. Lunch in the open air can still be enjoyed, and even sunbathing and swimming, along with most outdoor sports. Visit Cyprus calls the weather ideal for autumn travel. |
| Sea | The open sea stays above 22° C from June to November, according to the same climate page. |
| Late November onward | Visit Cyprus describes the winter months as rainy at times, with glorious sunshine still possible, and outdoor excursions still enjoyable. |
Holidays and the clock change
- 1 October: Cyprus Independence Day, a public holiday.
- 28 October: Greek National Anniversary Day, also a public holiday.
- Public holidays: Visit Cyprus says public services, businesses, banks and shops are closed, although many shops and services stay open in resorts and coastal areas.
- Clock change: on the last Sunday in October at 01:00 GMT, Cyprus reverts to standard time, so evenings get darker an hour earlier.
- Office hours: from 15 September, the standard weekday hours are 08:00 to 13:00 and 15:00 to 18:00.
